About Seniors Helping Seniors Harrow

Seniors Helping Seniors was founded on the simple premise that seniors can help each other to age well. As people continue to live longer, more and more seniors wish to remain living independently in their own homes, but they often require a little extra support to do so. By matching seniors in need of help with exclusively mature helpers (all of our carers are retired or semi-retired), we support the development of companionable relationships that enhance the lives of both clients and helpers.

Our at-home care offering is available to seniors living in Harrow, Pinner, Northwood and the surrounding areas. We offer an extensive range of non-medical services, at an affordable hourly rate, including:

    • Companionship
    • Housework
    • Garden help
    • Transportation
    • Trips out
    • Medical appointments
    • House maintenance and small repairs
    • Shopping
    • Dementia care
    • Meal preparation
    • Mobility assistance
    • Respite care
    • Overnight stays
      and more…

About our Director

George Demetriou, a Pinner resident for over 30 years, was drawn to the concept of Seniors Helping Seniors whilst seeking a fulfilling way to use his time in semi-retirement. In his recently finished tenure as President of the Pinner Rotary Club he had thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the local community, and sought to combine his desire to give back and do good with professional experience honed over more than three decades owning and operating businesses.George

Seniors Helping Seniors also has a real personal appeal for George – alongside his extended family, he helps to provide care for his elderly parents-in-law but, living a considerable distance from them, understands the challenge of not being able to be there to support with all the day-to-day tasks. Read more about why George is so passionate about Seniors Helping Seniors here.

George is delighted to bring the Seniors Helping Seniors service to Harrow, Pinner, Northwood and surrounding areas, and to share what he describes as the organisation’s ‘open, honest and completely positive approach to ageing’ with his local community.

A tried, tested and award-winning concept!

Seniors Helping Seniors was launched in Pennsylvania, USA in 1998. In its 18 years, the organisation has expanded to upwards of 270 locations, and has matched thousands of seniors with companionable mature carers.

In 2013, Seniors Helping Seniors launched its first UK outpost in Canterbury and Thanet, where the team has had great success and won multiple small business awards. The organisation is now expanding its unique concept elsewhere in the UK.
